J.K. Dobbins is having a surprisingly good season in 2024. The Los Angeles Chargers running back is an extremely talented player, but to this day, injuries have ruined his career. Since being made a second-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens, he has never played a full season.

He spent four years in Baltimore, suffered three major injuries and played just 24 games in four seasons there. He left the Ravens in free agency and signed with the Chargers, and in Week 12's Monday Night Football, it was time to play against his old team.

But his night was cut short. And, unsurprisingly, injuries have become a problem for him once again. Dobbins left the game with a knee injury in the second quarter and never returned to the game. The Chargers confirmed his status as out for the game at the start of the fourth quarter.

Although this was a disappointing night for him, the expectation, based on the video, does not appear to show a season-ending injury for him. Experts are stating on Twitter that this could be an LCL sprain, but certainly not as problematic as the freak injury he suffered in 2021, tearing his ACL, his LCL and his hamstring on the same left knee.

Dobbins finished the night with six carries and 40 rushing yards for an excellent 6.7 yards-per-carry average. The Chargers lost the game 30-23 and are now 7-4 on the season, still well-positioned to get one of the three wild card spots in the AFC. The Baltimore Ravens are now 8-4.

J.K. Dobbins stats in the 2024 season

Although his night was cut short, he still added some solid numbers until the injury. He now has 776 rushing yards this season, meaning he holds an excellent 4.8 yards per carry on average. He also scored eight touchdowns through the ground, including four in the last four games.

This has been one of the best deals of the season. The Chargers, aware of his injury history, were able to sign him for just $1.1 million during free agency. This contract looks like a huge bargain now.
