Morgan Moses was left writhing in pain in the second half of the Jets' game against the Patriots. The offensive line was doing a great job of keeping Aaron Rodgers out of trouble, but the blindside protection failed, and the quarterback was sacked. Morgan Moses, the right tackle, was not at fault, but the defender fell on his left leg from behind.

It rolled him up, and it looked like his knee was hyperextended, and he immediately fell to the ground. It was visible that he was in a lot of pain, and the medical personnel immediately came to attend to him.

Moses walked off on his own, though, which would have pleased Jets fans. He was later taken to the X-ray room for his left knee to be checked. It's most likely an MCL sprain with fear for his ACL too.

Olu Fashanu gets his chance at right tackle after Morgan Moses' injury

After last season's disappointment, the Jets were faced with a choice in the 2024 NFL Draft. They needed to strengthen their offensive line to protect Aaron Rodgers better, but they also needed options outside Garrett Wilson to give the quarterback more options. Ultimately, they went with offensive tackle Olu Fashanu in the first round and hoped to get a wideout later in the draft.

Many criticized that strategy because they had replenished some of the pieces on the offensive line through free agency, but the importance of depth became immediately clear as Morgan Moses went down injured. Olu Fashanu switched to right tackle to begin the fourth quarter.

The good thing for Morgan Moses, though, is that the Jets don't take to the field for 10 days after playing on Thursday tonight. He will get checked for any damage to the knee in the X-ray room, but given that he walked off on his own, there's a good chance that he might yet feature in Week 4.

However, if he doesn't, the Jets executive team will take great satisfaction with the choice they made in the draft. With Aaron Rodgers throwing the first touchdown of his MetLife career to Allen Lazard after connecting with him for a score last week, he's already renewing acquaintance with one of his most productive receivers from Green Bay.

The coaching staff will hope that as long as the quarterback remains protected, he will continue making the plays to elevate those around him.
