Aaron Rodgers teases Marshawn Lynch return with Packers light on reinforcements

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have struggled offensively this year. They have limped to a 4-7 record and have not displayed the quality offense as they have done in years past.

With Davante Adams gone, the wide receiver corps, and the quarterback as a result, has struggled. They were unable to make a deal at the deadline this season, but they have needed weapons all campaign.

Despite strong depth in the running back position, Rodgers recently made his plea to former All-Pro running back Marshawn Lynch. Aaron Rodgers said the following to Lynch in an interview:

"You coming back? Exchange this to green and gold. Need to hand that 24 power off one more time."

Lynch hesitated and said:

"I'd have to start working out right now."

The reigning MVP applied more pressure:

"Yeah, right. You weigh less than when you came back with Seattle that one year."

Lynch remained wary of a return, so it's very unlikely that he'd suit up with the quarterback for one last run at the playoffs. Not to mention the strength the PAckers already have at running back.

Will Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers make the playoffs this season?

The Packers are 4-7, trailing the Minnesota Vikings by four and a half games. The Vikings lost just their second game of the campaign, but the Packers lost to the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night, so it didn't matter.

It's been such a struggle that the once-preseason favorites now have a miniscule chance of taking the division crown once again. Aaron Rodgers has all but fallen off the MVP leaderboard after being a candidate to win his third in a row.

Per FiveThirtyEight's projections model, the Packers have a 6% chance of making the playoffs. That's even lower than the Detroit Lions, who are 4-6 and have a 12% chance.

In terms of the division title, that's pretty much out of the question at this point. The Vikings have a 97% chance of winning compared to the Packers' 0.7% chances.

Signing Lynch might make their team a little better overall, giving them some head-scratching unnecessary depth. However, it would probably not do much for their overall chances as it's probably too late for that.
