NFL 2018: Week 2 Duds

Houston Texans v New England Patriots
Both Burkhead (concussion) and Michel (knee) are injury concerns

#3 Rex Burkhead / Sony Michel

Houston Texans v New England Patriots
Both Burkhead (concussion) and Michel (knee) are banged up going into this fixture

The Patriots face off against the extremely talented Jacksonville Jaguars defense in week 2. Both Burkhead (concussion) and Michel (knee) are banged up going into this fixture, which isn’t something you want when you’re going into a matchup against Calais Campbell and co.

The Jaguars bottled up Saquon Barkley for the majority of their week 1 game until Barkley conjured a masterpiece of a touchdown out of nothing. I think the Patriots will give us a heavy dose of James White both in the running and passing game.

If they are all cleared to play, then that is a 3 headed monster I want no piece of.

#4 Davante Adams

Green Bay Packers v Carolina Panthers
Adams could well be touchdown or bust this week

As much as this hurts me writing his name on this list, I just can’t see the game going well for Adams.

The Packers meet the Vikings in what will be a hotly contested matchup. Aaron Rodgers is still hobbled after his ‘knee sprain’ from last week.

This could mean that the Packers play a lot of plays out of the shotgun formation as Rodgers looks to get the ball out early.

This may not give Adams enough time to create separation from his coverage. Even though Adams is one of the best receivers in the league at creating separation, he is likely to be shadowed by Xavier Rhodes, the standout corner for Minnesota. Adams could well be touchdown or bust this week.

#5 Larry Fitzgerald

Washington Redskins v Arizona Cardinals
Fitzy will have to face one of the best slot corners in Nickell Robey-Coleman.

Larry Fitzgerald was the only receiver of note to have any sort of production in week 1 for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals offense lacked direction and Sam Bradford really struggled under pressure. This week the Cards face up against the star-studded LA Rams defense.

Whilst Fitzy won’t draw much coverage from All-Pro corners Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters (who primarily stay outside), he will have to face one of the best slot corners in Nickell Robey-Coleman.

It’s a tough matchup for the whole Cardinals team this week and I really see them struggling to get any kind of offense going against this ferocious defense.
