Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to their fifth straight AFC Championship game in 2023. The Chiefs finished the 2022 NFL regular season as the No.1 seed in the AFC with a 14-3 record.

Arden Key and Corey Peters of the Jacksonville Jaguars tackled the Chiefs' starting quarterback to the ground in the first quarter of their Divisional round playoff game against the Chiefs. Mahomes' ankle was seen in the replays getting awkwardly hooked beneath Key as both players collapsed to the ground.

Patrick Mahomes immediately sought treatment for his right ankle, stumbling to the sidelines before stumbling back onto the field to meet with his team's coaches. Despite his injury, the 27-year-old continued to play the rest of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Patrick Mahomes, who had his ankle wrapped, looked to argue angrily with head coach Andy Reid and flung his jacket to the ground as he made his way to the locker room for analysis.

After taking over at quarterback, Chad Henne led the Chiefs to a 17-7 advantage.

Mahomes returned in the second half and guided the team to a win despite the fact that the team had listed him as questionable to return. He finished the game with 195 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Patrick Mahomes stated after the game that the X-rays were negative and that he had not received a diagnosis, adding, "I'll be good to go." According to Adam Schefter, the Chiefs will monitor Mahomes, and an MRI of his ankle is planned for Sunday.
