Robert Kraft, like many people across the world, dealt with the matter of depression after losing someone close. In 2011, the New England Patriots owner lost his wife, Myra Kraft, to cancer at the age of 63. Kraft spoke about how he dealt with depression following her passing.

Ahead of the Patriots facing the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51 in 2017, he told Fox & Friends how then-President Donald Trump helped him cope with his depression and his friendship.

“He’s been great to me over these last two decades. In the toughest time of my life, he was there for me when my beloved wife died. I was really depressed and he invited me to things and he looked out after me. Only four or five people did that to that extent.”

In the same interview, the Patriots owner thought Trump’s acumen as a businessman would serve him well as President of the United States. Kraft backed Trump’s presidential bid.

“I think that [Trump’s] intent is to do things that can help the business environment in America. Which to me, the people who are hurting most are working-class and poor people. We need a vibrant economy to get jobs going again.”

Robert Kraft has been of great help to Trump over the years, more so after running for the presidency. In 2016, the New England owner gave $1 million to his inaugural committee and later gave the then-President a Super Bowl ring the following year.
