The last of three NFL Thanksgiving Day games today features the Miami Dolphins playing at Lambeau Field against the Green Bay Packers. In a game between two teams that seems evenly matched up on paper, the Packers had a dominant first half, going up 24-3 on the Dolphins.
The Packers went up 14-0 in the first quarter before a Jason Sanders field goal for the Dolphins made it 14-3 in the second quarter.
Green Bay responded as wide receiver Jayden Reed scored his second touchdown of the half as kicker Brandon McManus made a field goal to give the Packers a 24-3 lead.
After a horrendous first-half start, Dolphins fans were ruthless to the team's X account, after they Tweeted out the halftime score.
Fans said the Dolphins always come up short in big games and have a tough time beating good teams. Some fans pointed out the Dolphins' offensive line woes as being a big issue.
Here's how fans reacted:
"RUINING ANOTHER HOLIDAY BY S***TING THE BED TO THE PACKERS F**K YOU"
"As a lifeline fan who remembers Marino’s first game. This sucks. Year after year. The general manager doesn’t somehow believe in offensive lines. Speed is fun. If the quarterback can have a pocket," a fan said.
"Team should be ashamed… Among multiple shortcomings, fail to run out clock or score at end of half and let the Packers convert a FG. This team never shows up for big games," a fan wrote.
More fans weren't having it on X. Some fans were calling the Dolphins the, "Same old Dolphins," meaning they look good against not-so-good teams, and bad against good teams.
Here's how other fans reacted:
"SMH same old “can’t play in the cold” DOLPHINS, making us life long fans look stupid for believing they could actually win a cold weather game this time. What a joke our team has become," a fan wrote.
"Same old Dolphins. I love them," a fan wrote sarcastically.
"This organization is a joke..," a fan said.
A loss would not drastically change the Miami Dolphins' playoff chances
Before the start of today's games, the Miami Dolphins would currently not be a playoff team.
The Dolphins held the No. 8 seed in the AFC heading into today, which is one spot out of the third and final wildcard spot. NFL.com gave the Dolphins a 13% chance to make the playoffs heading into the Thanksgiving game. As of right now, it looks like the Dolphins will lose and fall to 5-7, although their playoff probability will remain at 13%.
Luckily for the Dolphins, they have some winnable games remaining on their schedule. They face the New York Jets twice, the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, and the San Francisco 49ers.
