Derek Carr trade: NFL insider reveals selfish reason why Las Vegas Raiders are blocking QB move

The Las Vegas Raiders and quarterback Derek Carr are close to parting ways. Shortly after the regular season concluded, the team made it known that they would be moving on from the veteran quarterback.

Since then, relations between Carr and the Raiders have soured. According to NFL reporter Albert Breer, the Raiders currently aren't granting Carr permission to talk to other teams. They apparently don't want him to have the "knowledge" of what other NFL teams will be willing to pay him in case he gets cut.

Breer went on to describe the situation as a "sloppy" divorce.

The team is trying to trade Carr by the Feb. 15 deadline so that they do not owe him $40.4 million.

If and when they do part ways with Derek Carr, the Raiders will have to figure out who to replace him with.

One potential replacement could be Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Like Carr and the Raiders, Rodgers and the Packers are expected to part ways.

Rodgers has been linked with the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Jets. According to reports, Rodgers has told his agent, David Dunn, that he would prefer to play for Las Vegas over the Jets.

If he joins Vegas, it would reunite him with his former All-Pro wide receiver, Davante Adams.

Rodgers could also join a loaded offense that features Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller, with the possibility of running back Josh Jacobs if the team can find a way to keep the pending free agent.
