The NFL trade deadline is now finally upon us. With teams looking to plug their rosters with the playoffs in mind, one highly-publicized name that could potentially be traded is Alvin Kamara.

The New Orleans Saints star has had a stellar few campaigns with the franchise ever since being drafted in 2017. According to NFL insider Albert Breer, the running back is now garnering a lot of attention.

According to Breer, one NFL GM claimed that the Saints are considering shipping off the running back to the Philadelphia Eagles. This in return for the 2023 first-round draft pick they'd earlier traded to them:

The Eagles have been in red-hot form, winning all six of their opening fixtures so far in the 2022 NFL season. While Kamara has achieved a lot of success with the Saints, a Super Bowl ring still eludes the mercurial superstar. Given the kind of run the Eagles are in, the running back could well be very tempted to make the switch.

Alvin Kamara makes his presence known as a team leader in Saints locker room

During a recent press conference, Alvin Kamara revealed that he had a tough pep talk with his teammates after the side's loss to the Arizona Cardinals. When asked why he decided to do so, the running back had a prompt response:

"Because! It was annoying. I'm sick of that. I'm not used to losing... Even though we've had all these injuries and all that, I still feel like we can overcome. So when I feel like we might not be putting our best foot forward to do that, that's when I get frustrated. And that's when I'm like, 'Alright, shoot.'"

After the loss, the running back felt that it was important that a senior figure in the locker room stepped up to take charge:

"It does so much to lead by example, but sometimes people gotta say s**t. So I felt like I had to say something... What I said, it wasn't me talking at people. It was like, 'Shoot, hold me accountable, too.' If you don't see me with that swag and that energy and that pride I'm talking about, then tell me and call me out. Because I'm going to do the same thing to everybody on the field."

If the Eagles do manage to bag Kamara, they'll not only be blessed with an elite running back, but a leader among men as well.
