The Denver Broncos are still searching for their new head coach after firing Nathaniel Hackett on Dec. 26, 2022.
Former NFL head coach and current Michigan head coach, Jim Harbaugh, met with the Broncos about their vacant head coaching job, and rumors have circled that he could make a return back to the NFL.
ProFootballTalk's Twitter page, run by analyst Mike Florio, tweeted on Tuesday, Jan. 31, that there is a lingering possibility of Jim Harbaugh going to the Denver Broncos.
Florio tweeted:
"Something I was told this morning about the lingering possibility of Jim Harbaugh to Denver: 'Sleep with one eye open on that one.'"
Last season, there were rumors circling that Harbaugh could possibly make a return to the NFL. In January 2022, reports emerged that he would take the Las Vegas Raiders head coaching job if it was offered to him, something that never materialized.
He then interviewed with the Minnesota Vikings shortly after for their head coaching job, and after a second interview with the team, they elected not to hire him.
Harbaugh returned to Michigan where he had his best season as head coach, compiling a 13-1 record and a playoff appearance.

Despite rumors that Harbaugh could be making a return to the NFL, he released a statement earlier this month stating that his heart is at Michigan.
Harbaugh said via Adam Schefter:
"I love the relationships that I have at Michigan — coaches, staff, families, administration, President Santa Ono and especially the players and their families. My heart is at the University of Michigan. I once heard a wise man say, 'Don't try to out-happy, happy.' Go Blue!"
Harbaugh has been the coach of the Michigan Wolverines since the 2015 season after he was hired on Dec. 30, 2014. He's led them to a 74-25 record with seven Bowl game appearances.
In the NFL, Harbaugh coached the San Francisco 49ers for four seasons from 2011 to 2014. He put together a career record of 44-19 while making a Super Bowl appearance. He certainly has the credentials and winning experience to become a head coach in the NFL, but it seems like he may stay put for a little longer in Michigan.
