NFL Rumors: Packers failed to pull off four blockbuster trades aimed at helping Aaron Rodgers-led offense

The Packers' front office botched it badly this past trade deadline.

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have uncharacteristically struggled during the first half of the 2022-23 NFL season. The reigning NFL MVP from each of the last two seasons hasn't quite performed to his standard. This has resulted in the Packers losing their last four games ahead of Week 9 and falling to an alarming 3-5 record.

The Packers have only lost three games in each of the last three seasons. They have already lost five games this year and the season isn't even halfway through yet. The struggles are clearly concerning for the Packers' NFL playoff hopes this season. However, a decline in offensive production shouldn't be too much of a surprise following the departure of wideout Davante Adams.

The Packers shockingly traded Aaron Rodgers' favorite target to the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2022 offseason. They also failed to acquire a significant replacement, moving forward with a group of relatively unproven wide receivers. This turned out to be a huge mistake and one they reportedly attempted to amend prior to the 2022 NFL trade deadline.

The Packers were reportedly extremely active ahead of the trade deadline, despite failing to secure an offensive upgrade for Aaron Rodgers in the passing game. They made legitimate attempts to acquire at least four superstar pass-catchers. All four offers were rejected.

They moved for Pittsburgh Steelers wideout Chase Claypool, Denver Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy, Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Moore, and Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller. It's important to note that three of their targets remain with their current teams. Claypool was acquired by their NFC North division rivals, the Chicago Bears.

The NFL trade deadline has officially passed. This means the only way the Packers can add another weapon for Aaron Rodgers to work with is in free agency. The options are extremely limited at this point in the season and all of them come with a certain amount of risk.

Three wide receivers are capable of making an immediate impact, including Odell Beckham Jr., Antonio Brown, and Will Fuller. They all come with serious concerns, from injury risks to off-the-field issues. If the Packers want an immediate upgrade, it may be worth taking a gamble on one of them.
