Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs could be the new landing spot for Odell Beckham Jr. The free agent wide receiver is currently surveying his options, and from there, he will make a decision.

Expected to be back on the field in November, it is not known how his rehab from his ACL tear is going. That hasn't stopped the Chiefs from reportedly showing interest.

Reporter Aaron Wilson posted on his Twitter page that the Chiefs are strong contenders for the 29-year-old free agent.

"Chiefs regarded as strong contender for veteran free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., per league sources, as he contemplates options, continues to make steady progress in his recovery from torn ACL. Potential connection between OBJ and Patrick Mahomes is intriguing."

Give that the Kansas City love to have a high-octane offense, adding Beckham Jr. to the Chiefs receiving group would elevate them. Not that they need it.

Through six games in 2022, the Chiefs have already scored 40 or more points twice, and have hit 30 points once as well. So, Kansas City doesn't exactly need Beckham Jr.

Is it worth adding Odell Beckham Jr. to Mahomes' receiving group?

It could be beneficial for the Chiefs, but it is going to depend on what type of money Odell Beckham Jr. is going to want. There have been reports of the wide receiver wanting a Michael Gallup-type contract (a five-year deal with a max value of $62.5 million), but that remains to be seen.

Would Kansas City be willing to offer that type of money for a player who already has two ACL injuries? Given that the franchise is in the Super Bowl window, one would nearly have to say yes.

Already with a talented group that includes Juju Smith-Schuster, rookie Skyy Moore, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Mecole Hardman, the Chiefs are looking to top up.

Beckham Jr. could be the Chiefs' WR1 when he is fully healthy, and as Aaron Wilson pointed out in his tweet, a duo of Mahomes and Beckham Jr. is certainly tantalizing. Maybe not so for the defenses that will be tasked with stopping the duo, but for the NFL neutral at least.

With so many teams wanting his services, OBJ is not short of options. It's an enviable situation.
