Tom Brady could be about to have his most meaningul contribution to the Raiders as a minority owner in getting Mike Vrabel to Las Vegas. The former Tennessee Titans head coach was relieved of his duties as the franchise seeks a new direction. But it is widely accepted in NFL circles that the head coach was not the reason they were struggling and is, therefore, likely to be highly sought after.
Both Tom Brady and Mike Vrabel played together for the New England Patriots in their heyday. In fact, before Jerod Mayo was confirmed as the new head coach after Bill Belichick's departure, there was talk that he might in contention for that role.
But now the Raiders minority owner can use his connections with his former teammate as Las Vegas seeks a new head coach. They got rid of Josh McDaniels midway through the season and Antonio Pierce has been the interim coach since then. Getting someone like Mike Vrabel could give Tom Brady a signature piece of accomplishment as he seeks expand his imprint on the Raiders.
Should the Las Vegas Raiders stick with Antonio Pierce over Mike Vrabel?
When Jon Gruden was fired by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021, Rich Bisaccia became the interim head coach. He finished with a 7-5 record there and took them to the playoffs, where they lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in the Wildcard round.

But Mark Davis and the ownership chose to move on from him and give the job to Josh McDaniels. The thought was he would bring the famed Patriots way and lead the Raiders to former glory.
That experiment did not work out and now they have another interim coach in Antonio Pierce. He has a 5-4 record during his tenure there and led them to the second spot in the AFC West despite not having a franchise quarterback. Maybe, moving on from him to get an old New England player in order to replicate the Patriot way might backfire.
Recent big name coaching changes have not worked out for Tom Brady
Tom Brady, since his retirement, has invested in multiple sports clubs around the world. Birmingham City soccer club is one of them. They play in the second-tier of the English football pyramid.
Earlier this season, they got rid of popular coach John Eustace to appoint Wayne Rooney, who is an England and Manchester United legend. He was supposed to bring the winning mentality from his time as a player.
Instead, he won two in 15 games and was sacked after 83 days as the club tumbled from sixth to 20th in standings. Having been burned once, Tom Brady would do well to check carefully whether Mike Vrabel, an undoubtedly good manager and former NFL Coach of the Year, is the right person for this job at this time.
