For Javonte Williams, this has been a season of mixed emotions. Although the Denver Broncos found their franchise quarterback, he's having the worst year of his career, which isn't going to help as he's set to reach free agency at the end of the season.
The Broncos signed undrafted free agent Jaleel McLaughlin to play running back after the 2023 draft, and he has now officially taken over the starter position from WIlliams. With the current shift in snaps and carries, the veteran is an option for release on your fantasy football roster if you want to take a shot at another player.

Should you drop Javonte Williams for Week 14 fantasy football?
McLaughlin's ascension on the Broncos' backfield has been impressive. For most of the year, he was nothing more than a backup, but his performance in Week 12 earned the trust of head coach Sean Payton, who decided to give him the starter spot in Week 13.

And after his performance, it's difficult to justify Williams taking the starter role. McLaughlin had 84 yards on 14 carries for an excellent average of 6.0, while the veteran had just four carries and finished with a single net yard. He was also not a factor in the passing game, with one reception for three yards.
With such a low volume and almost no production, he has become a drop candidate for fantasy football rosters for the final weeks of the season. Many owners look for the waivers to try and strike gold at this point, and he's a prime-cut candidate as he has lost his starter spot.
Javonte Williams' fantasy outlook for rest of 2024 season
His snap percentage has fallen considerably. He constantly averaged over 60% until the middle of the season, but against the Browns, he was present for just 45% of the offensive snaps, constantly used as an extra blocker in the backfield. His number of touches was limited.
He was a loved player for fantasy owners due to his value as a receiver, which added many points in PPR leagues. But now that he's not the starter and his volume has been low, it's time to release hope and move on.
