Should you start Russell Wilson in Week 8 of NFL fantasy?

At Wembley Stadium in London, the Denver Broncos will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars to kick off the Week 8 Sunday's fixtures. Although the Broncos are having a difficult year, they are hoping that Russell Wilson's comeback will give them a boost.

Wilson missed the team's defeat to the New York Jets in Week 7 due to a hamstring injury. He apparently worked out while the others were asleep on the flight, but more significantly, he returned to drill as soon as the team touched down in London. He was classified as limited on Wednesday and Thursday, but on Friday, he was a full participant and is not included in the team's official injury report.

Even when he was fit this season, Wilson underperformed, only tossing five touchdowns. Wilson may still be considered a QB2 option in Superflex settings, though, given the tools Denver's attack offers.

Wilson has been unable to earn more than 14 fantasy points in four of his six appearances in 2022. He has only surpassed 20 fantasy points once. Wilson ranks in a tie for 21st place among quarterbacks this campaign with an average of just 14.6 fantasy points per game.

Hamstring injuries are challenging to predict, especially for quarterbacks because they have a slightly smaller impact than in other positions. As a result, we go into Sunday morning mostly unaware of Wilson's potential as a passer or with his legs. It is also difficult to assess the likelihood of reinjury because if he hobbles off the pitch after just one or two plays, it will significantly affect fantasy.

The Jaguars' defensive unit against quarterbacks is largely a middle-of-the-pack one in regards to matchups. They give up 17.11 points on average for fantasy points per game. Nevertheless, over the past two weeks, they have become a little more exposed. The Jaguars' backfield has given up more than 27 fantasy points to quarterbacks in each of those two contests.

Wilson should be benched. He hasn't done anything to warrant starting him outside of two QB or super-flex leagues, even assuming he doesn't worsen his injury.

Who to replace Russell Wilson with?

Depending on the size of your fantasy league, some quarterbacks may be more reliable than others. There are probably numerous quarterbacks in smaller leagues that are plainly exceeding Wilson's performances, but in larger leagues, it can be a little trickier.

Consider Marcus Mariota, Andy Dalton/Jameis Winston, Derek Carr, Daniel Jones, Kirk Cousins, Trevor Lawrence, and Jimmy Garoppolo if they are available.
