Tank Dell fantasy outlook: Should you draft Texans WR in 2024?

Tank Dell of the Houston Texans was one of the stars of their offense during a fantastic 2023 season for the team.

Dell, alongside fellow rookie C.J. Stroud, excelled during his first NFL season. He got 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns, despite only appearing in 11 games with just eight starts due to injuries.

Dell, and the Houston Texans as a whole, will look to build on a promising 2023 campaign that saw Houston win the AFC South and make it to the divisional playoff round.

Should you draft Texans' WR Tank Dell in 2024?

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell developed an instant rapport with quarterback C.J. Stroud after the QB personally asked the team to pick Dell during the 2023 NFL Draft.

It appears to have been an inspired decision as the duo formed an electric partnership in 2023, with Stroud winning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and Dell being lauded as one of the best young receivers in the NFL.

Dell comes into 2024 with much higher expectations than 2023. In 2023 as a rookie, not much was expected of him, or the Texans as a whole, and their rapid rise came as a surprise.

Dell, along with third-year WR Nico Collins, had an excellent season. The Texans traded for Stefon Diggs in a blockbuster move during the offseason and while that's great for the team, it may diminish some of Dell's fantasy value.

Dell's ADP is currently at 61 overall, according to FantasyPros, lower than both Collins and Diggs.

Is Tank Dell a good pick in fantasy football this year?

Despite having the lowest ADP of the three star Houston Texans wide receivers, Dell is an excellent fantasy football pick this year.

When both Dell and Collins saw the field together, their production was almost identical. While Dell's ADP is 61, Collins is a much more expensive pick with an ADP of 27 overall.

In the small sample size of Dell on the field in 2023, his impact on the Houston offense was clear. He gained a 31% share of air yardage and over 1,000 air yards in just 10 games, as well as a 20.5% target share and 14.2 points per game — ninth-best in the NFL.

Where should you draft Tank Dell this year?

Getting a piece of this electric Houston Texans offense in fantasy football could be a league-winning decision. If you have to go above Dell's ADP of 61 overall, then you should do so with confidence.

Dell and C.J. Stroud displayed their excellent connection plenty during the 2023 season, and they have already shown it again during the 2024 preseason.

Despite the addition of Stefon Diggs, he's getting older and likely to regress. That leaves the door open for Dell to move up the depth chart and challenge Collins for the WR1 spot in Houston.
