Travis Etienne Jr. came into the 2024 season as the Jacksonville Jaguars' starting running back. The Clemson Tigers product was impressive in 2022 and 2023 and was expected to play a significant role in Doug Pederson's offense in 2024. However, the year hasn't gone as planned for Travis Etienne, and ahead of Week 7, let's take a look at Etienne's injury status.

Travis Etienne Jr.'s injury update

According to CBS Sports, Travis Etienne Jr. is currently labeled as week to week. Embattled Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Pederson assigned the versatile running back this tag after he left Sunday's 35-16 defeat to the Bears with a hamstring injury.

Etienne had a game to forget in Week 6 as he failed to catch his sole target and ran with the ball thrice only to amass a stat line of -1-yards over 11 snaps. He then left the gridiron early in the third quarter because of the injury.

Following Etienne's departure, D'Ernest Johnson led Jacksonville's running backs with 35 snaps while Tank Bigsby played 17. The pair operated a committee system in the loss to the Houston Texans.

So, yes, fantasy football managers should be worried about Etienne. The veteran running back is likely out for Week 7, and it'll be smart to make a move for Tank Bigsby in the interim or look for a running back free agent or waiver wire pick.

How has Travis Etienne Jr. performed this season?

Travis Etienne Jr. has been one of the less impactful RB1s in the 2024 NFL season. Etienne has amassed a stat line of 56 carries, 230 rushing yards, and two rushing touchdowns in six games played. He ranks lower than 25th among all running backs in all three major statistical categories.

Etienne's struggles have mirrored those of the Jaguars, who are playing some of the worst football in 2024. The Jaguars have lost five of their six games and are currently on a four-game losing streak.

The Jaguars' next five games are against the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, and Detroit Lions before they embark on their bye week. If Doug Pederson's side keeps playing like this, their playoff chances will be at 0% by the time they embark on the bye.
