Trey Hendrickson said earlier in the offseason that he would not report to work until he and the Cincinnati Bengals had a new agreement in place. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the All-Pro edge rusher kept his word and will not be present for the team's first minicamp practice on Tuesday.

Hendrickson and the Bengals are embroiled in a contract dispute, and he has decided to avoid joining the team since he is dissatisfied with his current situation.

The organization may eventually look to trade the four-time Pro Bowl player to another team since the two parties don't seem to be close on an agreement.

Hendrickson finished second in voting for Defensive Player of the Year and led the NFL in sacks (17.5) last season. This means that the Bengals would likely insist on a trade package that includes a key player and one or two first- to third-round draft picks.

Hendrickson was given permission by the Bengals to find a trade partner in March, but no major suitor has shown interest since. The reason a deal hasn't occurred yet is probably because the organization is asking for something near premium for the 30-year-old.

Here, we'll examine the most logical destinations for Hendrickson in the event of a trade.

Trey Hendrickson's potential landing spots

#1 - Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers released veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander on Monday, leaving them with more than $46 million in free cap space. This means Green Bay has the space to acquire Trey Hendrickson.

The Packers might include a player in their trade offer for Hendrickson in order to make up for the Bengals' loss at DE. Offering Cincinnati a 2026 second-round pick spot in addition to a player like Kingsley Enagbare or Lukas Van Ness could work.

Hendrickson, who has the most sacks in the NFL with 35 in the last two seasons, can be Rashan Gary's reliable partner off the edge in Green Bay. The Packers strengthened their offense by selecting two wide receivers in the draft. They could also successfully strengthen their defense with Hendrickson.

#2 - Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders signed Javon Kinlaw, who wasn't particularly good last season, to a three-year contract this offseason after DT Daron Payne struggled in defense in 2024.

In order for the team to become a legitimate Super Bowl contender in 2025, it will hope that Payne and Kinlaw live up to expectations. But Washington could also add extra stability by acquiring Trey Hendrickson, who is expected to have a significant impact right away.

The addition of Hendrickson alongside Dorance Armstrong would significantly improve the team's edge rush unit.

According to ESPN's Seth Walder, the Commanders offering Jer'Zhan Newton, a 2026 Round 3 pick and a 2027 Round 7 pick to the Bengals should be enough to lure Cincinnati into a trade.

#3 - Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have been linked to possible trade talks for Trey Hendrickson due to their need for additional edge support. The Lions can afford the elite edge rusher since they have roughly $40 million in cap space.

As proposed by ESPN's Ben Solak, a trade package can look like this: In exchange for Trey Hendrickson and a 2026 fifth-round pick, the Lions will send a 2026 second-round pick and a conditional 2027 fourth-round pick, that might turn into a third-rounder, to Cincinnati.
