Tua Tagovailoa injury update and fantasy outlook: Is the Dolphins QB starting on Sunday?

Due to an ankle problem, Tua Tagovailoa was forced to sit out the Miami Dolphins' last offensive possession in their recent defeat to the San Francisco 49ers. According to reports, Tagovailoa's injury was insignificant and he could have returned to the game.

Tagovailoa downplayed the severity of his ankle problem to the media following the game:

"(I feel) as good as I can be coming off a game. We'll assess some things. As good as I can be."

Tua Tagovailoa returned to join his teammates in practice for consecutive days and is not listed as injured going into this Week 14. He is set to start and have his usual workload against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football.

The Miami Dolphins will be happy to hear this, as Tagovailoa has been excellent this year. He kept the offensive unit in motion against a strong secondary, even in a challenging contest against the San Francisco 49ers.

Tua Tagovailoa's fantasy outlook for Week 14 against the Los Angeles Chargers

Tagovailoa is pretty much a must-start in fantasy football. Although he lacks the running production of the best fantasy quarterbacks, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle provide him with at least a high floor on a weekly basis.

Tagovailoa has played in 10 games this season and has completed 68.1 percent of his throws for 2,859 yards and 21 TDs. More significantly, he has made a significant contribution to the Miami Dolphins' 8-4 record.

Against the 49ers' defensive unit, Tagovailoa struggled considerably, going 18 of 33 for 295 yards, two interceptions, and two TDs. Miami are looking to bounce back immediately against a tough Los Angeles Chargers side who are a bit unpredictable of late.

This game could be a high-scoring affair, in which case Tua Tagovailoa will have a big day indeed. The reality is that he is unlikely to let you down in Week 14, and short of an injury, he should at least make his projections. In the event of a shootout (which could really happen here), Tagovailoa could get a huge haul, in which case benching him would be very regrettable.
