Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears left Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts early in the second half due to a hamstring injury.

Titans coach Brian Callahan said on Monday that Spears' injury will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis. This indicates the standout running back could be out for a few contests.

The Titans' next matchup is a difficult road game against the Buffalo Bills in Week 7. Although Spears' week-to-week status doesn't automatically rule him out of that game, his odds of suiting up are extremely low.

Physiotherapist Sebastian Fearon provided a two-to-four-week timeline for Spears' return.

Spears has struggled this season, with Tony Pollard assuming the primary role in the Titans' backfield.

Spears has amassed 114 yards on 33 rushes and a touchdown in five games. He has also caught 12 passes for 76 yards.

Pollard and backup Julius Chestnut could receive more playing time in Tennessee's backfield in the upcoming weeks as a result of Spears’ likely absence.

What happened to Titans RB Tyjae Spears?

Spears departed the field with a hamstring injury during the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Colts, with the Titans leading 17-10. He was eventually ruled out after first being deemed questionable to return.

After the game, Spears declared that he was "going to be good," but he also acknowledged the seriousness of his injury, saying that it would not let him play again, even if he had intended to.

Tyjae Spears had recorded six rushes for 27 yards on Sunday before leaving the game in the third quarter.

Spears has proven to be a lethal dual-threat running back since the Tennessee Titans selected him with the 81st overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft.
