Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins are not up to the lofty expectations set before the start of the season. With a 5-7 record and five games to go, this is certainly not the year that everyone expected, even if they're just two games behind in the AFC Wild Card race.
Playing against the Green Bay Packers in the final game of the Thanksgiving slate, the wide receiver needed to have one great game if the Dolphins were to put an upset. Although he had a good performance, it wasn't enough in the cold Green Bay night.
Tyreek Hill's stats vs Packers
A summary of Tyreek Hill's stats for the Dolphins against the Packers in Week 13 of the 2024 NFL season is given below.
- Carries: 0
- Rushing yards: 0
- Rushing touchdowns: 0
- Targets: 9
- Receptions: 6
- Receiving yards: 83
- Receiving touchdowns 1
This is certainly a good performance, but Miami doesn't have enough playmakers in their 2024 version. There were more problems for the team, such as the offensive line allowing Tua Tagovailoa to be sacked five times or a muffed punt to give field position to the Packers in the second drive.
With his game against Green Bay now gone, Hill's streak without a 100-yard game continues. There have now been 11 games without three digits, as the only time he reached this mark in the 2024 season was back in Week 1.
This was also his fourth touchdown of the season. He scored three in the last four games, but his production when Tagovailoa was injured dropped massively.
As a matter of comparison, he finished the 2023 season with 1,799 yards, nearing the record of all-time most receiving yards in a season (1,964 from Calvin Johnson in 2022). With his Thursday game, he now has 654 receiving yards for the season.
This has been a season where Miami's plans were crashed when their quarterback missed many games, and all the offense sputtered as a result. Although they were able to recover their levels, this has happened a bit too late, and Hill could miss the playoffs for the first time in his career.
