Winning the waiver wire is a valuable strategy, especially in fantasy football leagues that are past the trade deadline. Injury situations and recent performances are among the biggest factors in determining which players make for the best target each week. Here are five running backs to consider as Week 13 approaches.
Fantasy Football Week 13 waiver wire RBs
#1 - Jeremy McNichols
The Washington Commanders suffered injuries to their top two RBs last week. Brian Robinson Jr. exited with an ankle injury and Austin Ekeler entered the concussion protocols. If one or both of them are forced to miss time, Jeremy McNichols is expected to step into a larger role. This makes him a potentially valuable Week 13 waiver wire addition.
#2 - Gus Edwards
The LA Chargers also lost an RB during their game last week when JK Dobbins was forced out with a knee injury. It's unclear if it will keep him out of the lineup for Week 13, but if it does, Gus Edwards will likely take over as their starter. He has been serving as their RB2 this year but carries massive value if he receives a larger workload in a run-first offense.
#3 - Jaylen Warren
The Pittsburgh Steelers found a ton of success using a split backfield last season, but they heavily featured Najee Harris in the early stages of this year. That has changed in three games since their by weeks, with Jaylen Warren back to getting a significant role. He has 43 touches over that stretch and even played in 57% of the snaps in their most recent game. This has also produced three weekly finishes of RB24 or better, making Warren a must-add from the waiver wire.
#4 - Ameer Abdullah
The Las Vegas Raiders entered their most recent game extremely thin at RB with Zamir White and Alexander Mattison both out with injuries. This opened the door for Ameer Abdullah to get his first start and he responded by finishing as the weekly RB9 in fantasy football. This may have earned him a larger role even if one or both of their other RBs return this week.
#5 - Tank Bigsby
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been splitting their backfield workload between Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne. It's unclear how they will distribute the workload following their by week, but Bigsby has shown elite weekly upside when he receives enough volume. He has finished as RB1 and RB7 in just four games with more than eight carries, so he is a solid speculative addition off of the waiver wire this week.
