The Atlanta Falcons find themselves in an untenable situation again. Despite sweeping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their divisional head-to-head, they have gone just 1-3 since, with three consecutiv losses.
It does not get any easier for them next week, as they face a surging Minnesota Vikings. Sam Darnold was supposed to be a mostly losing and battered stopgap while JJ McCarthy developed (and then the rookie tore his meniscus), but strong offensive performances from Aaron Jones and Justin Jefferson and a monstrous defense have put then in contention for the AFC North.

Vikings vs. Falcons prediction
Unfortunately for the Falcons, the Vikings simply have a more complete roster that will lead a rout.

First off, on offense. Aaron Jones has been proving why Kevin O'Connell and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah were right to eye him. In twelve games (all starts), he has accumulated 820 yards.
In the air, Justin Jefferson has been dominant, being one of only two players to hit a thousand receiving yards. He has been complemented by sophomore Jordan Addison, who has had almost 600 yards. And at tight end, Josh Oliver and Johnny Mundt had been doing a solid job standing in for TJ Hockensen.
But it is the defense that has shone the most. The front seven, led by nose tackle Harrison Phillips and defensive ends Jonathan Bullard and Jerry Tillery, has been the best at stopping the run so far. They are the only team to allow fewer than 1,000 rushing yards after 14 game weeks, better than even the Kansas City Chiefs - with Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel also proving to be prolific sack machines at a combined 14.
The anti-air defense has been a notable weakness, allowing a bottom-five 3,189 yards. However, the Vikings still boast a solid secondary unit comprised of starting cornerbacks Stephon Gilmore and Byron Murphy and safeties Harrison Smith and Camryn Bynum that can make life tough for Kirk Cousins and his receivers.
Prediction: Vikings 35, Falcons 10
Vikings vs. Falcons fantasy outlook
The two players to look out for in this game are Robinson and Jefferson. Both are third in their respective positional rankings and has been having monstrous performances this season.
With Drake London, Darnell Mooney and Kyle Pitts nowhere near quadruple-digits, the running back is the Falcons' best offensive hope, having scored double-digit fantasy points in every game so far to breach 200.
As for the wideout, only twice has he failed to hit double-digit points. And the Vikings won both games thanks to other playmakers. On Sunday, he should perform well again thanks to the relative weakness of whichever cornerback will oppose him.
