Aaron Rodgers' rumors about a trade to the New York Jets heated up after the team signed his former offensive coordinator. The Jets hired Nathaniel Hackett as their offensive coordinator after he was fired by the Denver Broncos on December 26, 2022.

The New York Jets parted ways with offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur this off-season and replaced him with Hackett. The Denver Broncos hired Hackett on January 27, 2022, replacing Vic Fangio.

After an underperforming season in which the Broncos went 4-11, the team cut ties with Hackett as their head coach and fired him. Before taking on duties as Denver's head coach, Hackett was calling plays for the Green Bay Packers as their offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2021.

Hackett helped Aaron Rodgers reach success in his two MVP seasons in 2020 and 2021 and has a strong relationship with the play caller. Rodgers has been rumored to be traded this off-season.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Packers would only trade Rodgers for an AFC team. The two AFC teams currently looking for new QBs in 2023 are the New York Jets and the Las Vegas Raiders.

According to ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler, the Broncos were "all in" on pursuing Rodgers last off-season and would have done anything to acquire him. Part of that could have been hiring his offensive coordinator of the last two years, Nathaniel Hackett.

The Broncos paid the price for having a bad head coach during a season that didn't go well with Russell Wilson at quarterback. Rodgers chose to remain with the Green Bay Packers last year after contemplating leaving the team by requesting a trade.

He seems open to the idea of being traded this year and could have a new home in the AFC before the start of the 2023 season. Hopefully, this time, the Jets can land a quarterback with whom they can succeed.
