The San Francisco 49ers are having a stellar season, reaching the NFC championship game for the second straight year.

The 49ers, the No. 2 seed in the NFC after going 13-4 during the regular season, entered the divisional round after defeating the Seattle Seahawks 41-23. In the next playoff round, they had a 19-12 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. They will now play at the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC championship game on Sunday.

The 49ers entering the game as the least favorite among the four teams to win the Super Bowl LVII at +310 odds. According to DraftKings, all four teams are in a tight race with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, matching the odds at +260. Tight behind them are the Cincinnati Bengals (+270) and San Francisco 49ers (+310).

The 49ers were towards the top of the board at +1400 when DraftKings initially issued odds on the 2023 Super Bowl winner in January of last year. Since reaching the conference championship game, the team's odds have shifted to +310, and they now have 25% chance of winning Super Bowl LVII.

Before this seasons' run, San Francisco made two of the previous three conference championship games, going 1-1.

On Jan. 19, 2020, the 49ers defeated the Green Bay Packers in the NFC championship game 37-20 to reach the Super Bowl. There, the 49ers lost 31-20 to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Last season, the Los Angeles Rams defeated San Francisco 20-17 in the NFC championship game.

The San Francisco 49ers are no strangers to competing for the Lombardi Trophy. San Francisco has been in seven Super Bowls: 2019, 2012, 1994, 1989, 1988, 1984 and 1981.

The seven appearances rank sixth league history, after only the New England Patriots (11) ,Pittsburgh Steelers (eight), Dallas Cowboys (eight) and Denver Broncos (eight). The 49ers have a 5-2 record in their seven visits.

San Francisco's five Super Bowl triumphs (1981 season, 1984, 1988, 1989, 1994) occurred during a historic eight-year run. San Francisco did not lose a Super Bowl until losing 34-31 to the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII on Feb. 3, 2013.

If the 49ers were to win another Super Bowl, they would tie the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots for the most Super Bowl victories ever.
