The San Francisco 49ers opened their 2024 NFL season with a dominant 32-19 win over the New York Jets on Monday Night. Notably, the game ended in a final score that had never been recorded previously in the league.
In simple words, a scorigami is said to happen when a final score in an NFL game has never occurred before. The term was invented by American sportswriter Jon Bois in 2014, by combining the words "score" and "origami" to define the rare incident.
Monday's game marked the eighth time the 49ers have been involved in a scorigami since Kyle Shanahan took over as coach in 2017. The last time Shanahan's team was a part of a scorigami was in Sept. 2020 when San Francisco beat the New York Giants 36-9.

However, this was only the second time the Jets were involved in a scorigami since 2015. The New York team was involved in one in 2021, losing 45-30 to the Indianapolis Colts.
Furthermore, this was the second time in a row that a scorigami was achieved in Week 1 of the season. Overall, there were nine scorigamis during the 2023 season. However, the feat has become more challenging to achieve with each new score that happens.
