The New York Jets lost 3-19 against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football. It was the Jets' fourth straight defeat as they fell to a 7-8 record.

After a promising 5-2 start, a playoff appearance now seems unlikely for the team. New York developed a good draft class with many important young players becoming stars, with Alijah Vera-Tucker and Garrett Wilson being good examples. But they have failed to hit the right buttons with the quarterback position.

If it confirms, New York will miss the playoffs for the 12th straight season. The last time we saw the Jets in the playoffs was in 2010, and even worse, the last time they reached a Super Bowl was in 1969.

What was the last time the Jets made the playoffs?

New York last made the playoffs 12 years ago, and boy, was it a ride!

It was Rex Ryan's second season in charge of the team, and they qualified as the sixth seed. But they produced two major upsets.

First, they beat Peyton Manning and the No. 3 Indianapolis Colts in a last-second field goal during the Wild Card Round. Even more impressive was how they took on bitter rivals and No. 1 seed New England Patriots in a massive 28-21 upset.

However, it wasn't meant to be, as they couldn't complete the run over the AFC favorites, losing to the No. 2 Pittsburgh Steelers in the conference game 24-19.

Well, dear reader, there's a good chance you weren't born the last time they won the Super Bowl! In the 1968 season, in Super Bowl III, there was still no merger between the AFL and the NFL.

The Jets, representing the AFL, beat the Baltimore Colts 16-7 to win their first - and only Super Bowl. It was the first time an AFL team beat an NFL team in the Super Bowl, and it was considered a major upset at the time.

This game became famous because quarterback Joe Namath personally guaranteed that New York would win the game even as they were huge underdogs. He was named the Super Bowl MVP following a strong performance, with 206 yards in 17 completions.
