Galu and Diane are both from Hawaii and are of Samoan descent. In 1998, they got married in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, right before their eldest son, Tua, was born.

Tua's father motivated him to play football after his grandfather died. He was also Tua and Taulia's coach before they turned pro.

Not much is known about his mother, Diane. Tua Tagovailoa shares a very close bond with his parents and often posts pictures of them on his Instagram account.

The Tagovailoas used to live in Hawaii. They moved to Alabama after Tua enrolled at the University of Alabama in January 2017.
