Cam Newton and Sam Darnold of the Carolina Panthers look on before playing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Cam Newton tweeted that he would attend Auburn's pro day on Tuesday with the hopes of getting a chance to play in the 2023 NFL season.

Newton, who received the Heisman Trophy while leading the Auburn Tigers to the 2010 national title, hasn't made an NFL appearance since 2021. Newton announced his wish to join the league again in a video uploaded to his Twitter account.

"Tell me how these randoms keep getting employment," Newton said.

Although Newton only spent one year at Auburn, it was a productive one in which he guided the Tigers to an unbeaten record and won the Heisman. In 14 games, Newton passed for 2,854 yards, 30 scores and seven interceptions. He also ran for 1,473 yards and 20 more scores.

Cam Newton isn't just returning to Auburn because he wants to support the school's youngsters in their endeavors. The purpose of this is to demonstrate that his career is still active.

Can Cam Newton find a new team before the 2023 season?

The Carolina Panthers selected Cam Newton first overall in the 2011 draft. After helping the Carolina Panthers to a 35-touchdown season and a 15-1 record, he was named the NFL MVP in 2015.

After a miserable 2020 campaign with the New England Patriots and 2021 with the Panthers, Newton was compelled to leave the NFL. He was unable to shake the stench of that season. Newton, though, is still hopeful that he will be able to play in the upcoming season.

His Panthers career came to a screeching halt due to injuries and patchy plays, and he was ultimately released .

Newton struggled to find another team last season. He has consistently maintained that he wouldn't be the worst quarterback in the league, and he reaffirmed this position when announcing his pro day presence.

Cam Newton spent most of the 2021 season sharing the starting job with P.J. Walker when he re-signed with the Carolina Panthers for the second half of the season.

The five contests in which Newton started at quarterback resulted in losses. Even though some of this wasn't his fault, it doesn't do much to dispel the notion that he's finished. Also, the fact that he sat out of the 2022–23 NFL season will not help his argument.

As a starter, Cam Newton has a record of 75-68-1 and has scored more TDs on the ground than any other quarterback in NFL history. He has passed for more than 32,382 yards and 194 scores during his career. Other organizations may be willing to gamble on him if he can demonstrate that he still has something to offer.
