The Jacksonville Jaguars will lock horns with the Kansas City Chiefs for their AFC divisional round matchup on Saturday. Doug Pederson's side produced a stunning 27-point comeback to beat the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round last weekend.

As the Jaguars made it to the playoffs for the first time since the 2017 season, the TIAA Bank Field was echoed with chants of 'Duval' during the Wild Card contest. The chorus is often stretched out when being yelled at in the stadium, which is why the team uses several U's in the hashtag. However, NFL fans have been curious to learn more about the slogan and the meaning behind it.

The main reason behind the famous chant is that most of Jacksonville is simply based in Duval County, which is in northeastern Florida. The Jaguars fanbase also uses the chorus to rally and motivate their team.

As per reports, the Duval chant has been used by the team's supporters since early 2000s. A number of rappers were among the first to start calling Jacksonville "Duval" in the 1990s.

The Jacksonville Jaguars didn't get off to the best of starts in the regular season. After Week 11, they were nearly out of playoff contention with a 3-7 record. However, Pederson's side went on to clinch the AFC South division with a 9-8 record as they won all five of their remaining regular season contests.

Jacksonville then managed to produce another thrilling comeback to take down the Los Angeles Chargers in their Wild Card round matchup. They will now travel to face Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC divisional round.

The Jaguars will need quarterback Trevor Lawrence at his best on Saturday if the team is to stand a chance of making it to the Conference Championships.
