When healthy, Matthew Stafford is among the league's top signal-callers. However, he hasn't played much lately.

Stafford's neck issue, which he has been suffering for weeks, is still troubling him. The prolonged time on the sidelines has confirmed early speculations that he won't play again until the 2023–24 season.

With their 31-10 defeat against the Los Angeles Chargers on New Year's Day, the Los Angeles Rams became the first reigning Super Bowl winners in league history to lose 11 games.

Some seasoned players who contributed significantly to the Rams last year are still part of their squad. But as the campaign nears its business end, almost all of them are sidelined.

Injuries have plagued the Rams' squad, and their stand-ins have failed to keep the group relevant. The most notable mentions are Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and Aaron Donald; three of their biggest names haven't appeared since November.

The Rams are giving second choices and new players a considerable amount of playing time, as replacements for those sidelined regulars on both defense and offense.

In 2022, Matthew Stafford guided the Los Angeles team to a Super Bowl triumph. But it has been a forgettable 2022–2023 season, where he played only nine games and recorded just three victories before suffering a spinal cord injury that ended his campaign.

That said, news has now emerged that Stafford won't require surgery. Head coach Sean McVay recently stated that he hopes his starting quarterback will be healthy for the start of the upcoming season.

Will Matthew Stafford remain at the Los Angeles Rams next season?

There has been some speculation that Matthew Stafford may be thinking about retiring, despite his own assertions to the contrary.

The Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams have benefited from Stafford's stellar career, and he has always desired to be a part of a winning team. During his first season with the Rams, he succeeded in that goal by contributing to the team's Super Bowl LVI victory.

Ever since, the 34-year-old quarterback has made it evident that he has no intention of retiring.

On Kelly Stafford's podcast The Morning After, when pressed on whether he planned to retire, Stafford said, "No."

Due to a spinal cord injury, the experienced quarterback won't be able to play in the 2022/23 season finale. However, he is anticipated to forego any off-season procedures in favor of rehabilitation to heal fully.

In March last year, Stafford agreed to a four-year, guaranteed $160 million contract deal with the Los Angeles Rams. All of this suggests that he will stay put with the Rams for the foreseeable future.
