The New York Jets have been one of the surprise packages of the 2022-23 NFL season, but could they make a serious run to Super Bowl LVII? Over the course of nine weeks, they sit at 6-3, having just taken down Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in Week 9.

Robert Saleh’s men have been excellent so far this season as their six wins top the amount they had all season in both 2020 and 2021.

With this, there are plenty of reasons to believe they’re a playoff team this year. If they can make it, here are three reasons why they can go all the way and win the Super Bowl.

#1 - Sauce Gardner

Rookie cornerback Sauce Gardner has already left his mark on the NFL and is already amongst the top corners in the game today.

A true lockdown corner, he’s faced off against many superstar wide receivers so far this season, including Stefon Diggs, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tyreek Hill. Gardner has more than held his own in the NFL. He's already grabbed two interceptions to go along with his 86.1 PFF grade, which is the best in the entire NFL.

Not only that, but he also leads the league in pass defenses with 14 and also leads the league with an 87.8 coverage grade.

New York hit a home run on Gardner. Having him alongside fellow corner DJ Reed, who’s also been excellent this year, means they could make a serious run at the Super Bowl in 2022.

#2 - Schedule

When the Jets finished last in the AFC West in 2021, they were given a favorable schedule for this season. Despite being in a tough division against the Bills, Miami Dolphins, and New England Patriots, they’ve already beaten all three. They’ve also taken down the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, and Denver Broncos.

Some of their remaining games also seem winnable as they face the Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Detroit Lions as the season concludes.

If they can win at least four of their remaining eight games, they’d be safe for a playoff spot, and once you’re there, anything is possible. Momentum from winning late in the year can carry you all the way to the Super Bowl - just ask the 2021 Cincinnati Bengals.

#3 - Robert Saleh’s experience

Jets head coach Robert Saleh has won over many fans across the NFL due to his passion displayed on the sidelines every week.

What some fans don’t know, however, is that he’s already been to two Super Bowls, which is experience that could prove vital to this young Jets team.

Saleh was the Seattle Seahawks' defensive quality control coach in 2013 when they beat Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. He was also the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator when they narrowly lost Super Bowl LIV to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

While the results were mixed, Saleh knows how to get to the big game and could be vital in their push for a first Super Bowl win since way back in 1968.
