Appearance

Sinistea is created when a lonely spirit has a leftover cup of tea and is thus a teacup shaped Pokemon and has purple “tea” inside the cup. It has a lacy pattern that somewhat resembles a face on the front of the body. Antique Form Sinistea has a mark of authenticity on it while the Phony Form does not. It is a light grey emblem on the bottom inside of the cup.

Behavior

The swirling pattern on Sinistea’s body serves as its weakness. If it gets stirred, the swirl will go away which causes it to become dizzy and disoriented. Sinistea absorbs the lifeforce of anyone that drinks it. It has to be entirely drunk, and that rarely happens due to the bitter taste.

Strengths and Weaknesses

As a Ghost type Pokémon, Sinistea is weak against Ghost and Dark type moves and will take twice the normal damage from them. It is immune to both Normal and Fighting types, and is resistant to Poison and Bug types, which will do half the damage. There is no advantage or disadvantage with Flying, Fairy, Steel, Grass, Rock, Dragon, Bug, Ground, Electric, Fire, Ice, Water and Psychic types.

Best Moveset

Sinistea has a lot of strong moves including Foul Play, which is a move that has 95 power and 100% accuracy. Here are Sinistea’s best moves; Foul Play uses the target’s Attack stat in Damage calculation and Psychic has a 10% chance to lower the target’s Special Defense by 1. Phantom Force, on the other hand, disappears on the first turn and attacks on the second. It will break protections from the target and finally, Dark Pulse has a 20% chance to make the target flinch.

How to catch Sinistea in Pokemon Go?

Sinistea has not been made available yet in Pokemon Go. Generation VIII is the most recent generation of Pokemon and not all of them have been added to Pokemon Go. Recently, there was a Galarian event in which the likes of Skwovet, Trubbish, Zacian and other Generation VIII Pokemon were added, but the full roster of Galarian Pokemon has not yet arrived.

Trivia

  2. Sinistea is tied with Joltik, Flabebe, Cutiefly, Comfey and Cosmoem for the smallest Pokemon in the entire franchise.
  3. Sinistea is a combination of the words sinister and tea.
  4. Sinistea is based on a poltergeist (as is Polteageist) and a teacup.

FAQs

How big is Sinistea?

Sinistea is one of the smallest Pokemon in the entire franchise. It stands just four inches tall and weighs four tenths of a pound. Polteageist (both forms) doubles in height and weighs just 0.9 pounds, so it is also one of the smallest Pokemon.

Is Sinistea in Pokemon Sword and Shield?

Yes. Sinistea was introduced for these games but has not been added to any other Pokemon game yet. Sinistea is a fairly difficult Pokemon to catch, as You can find and catch Sinistea in Glimwood Tangle with a 10% chance to encounter it during All Weather when walking through tall grass.

Is there a shiny Sinistea?

Yes, but not in Pokemon Go. Many Pokemon get a shiny version from Pokemon Go, but since Sinistea isn’t in that game, it can’t. However, it does have a shiny version that gives it a pink shade on the teacup instead of the blue.

Conclusion

Sinistea is one of the most unique Pokemon in the games. Since it can have two forms that will evolve differently based on the item it is exposed to, it is unique. It becomes even more unique when you realize that one of those forms is phony, hence the name. An Antique form Polteageist is even more unique and hard to come by.
