Amy Wang is an American table tennis player who was born on February 12, 2002, in Sewell, New Jersey. She started playing table tennis when she was 4 years old and has been focusing on growth ever since then.

Wang has a long list of honors added to her name and has competed in several championships. She has been a part of the World Championships (2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023), the World Cup (2024), and the Pan American Games too (2023). Apart from these, Wang also squared off multiple times at the junior U.S. Open (2009, 2012, 2013, and 2015). She is currently ranked in the 29th position in the world for girls under 15.

She has also faced a lot of trials and tribulations during the qualification procedure for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She was just one round away from qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics, however, she could not win the last round. According to Team USA, after this, she took a one-year break for her mental and physical health and spent the sabbatical with her family. After this hiatus, she marked her comeback by winning the US Open Women’s Singles Championships in 2022.

Wang recently qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics after competing at the 2024 US Olympic Table Tennis Trials. She and another American player, Rachel Sung, were the top two to secure their spot in the Summer Games. According to the NBC Olympics, the 22-year-old is elated to qualify for her Olympics debut along with Sung as they both were roommates in their college days.

Wang completed her education at UCLA Berkeley and was inspired to play table tennis after watching her siblings and father, who also played the sport professionally. She is coached by her father and trains at the Lily Yip Table Tennis Center.
