Born on November 4, 1993, Erika Reineke is a professional US Sailing Team athlete and 2024 Olympic Games contender from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She began her sailing journey at the age of eight.
Reineke won two consecutive Girl's National Championships and placed fourth in the Coed National Championship in the Optimist dinghy. She then transitioned to the ILCA 6 (Laser Radial), where she qualified to represent the United States at the 2010 ISAF Youth Worlds in Istanbul, Turkey, bringing home a bronze medal. The following year, she won her first ILCA Youth World Championship in Largs, Scotland, and later earned a silver medal at the 2011 ISAF Youth Worlds in Zadar, Croatia. Reineke transitioned to the double-handed women’s skiff, the 49er FX, to gain invaluable experience in another Olympic class, after not being qualified in the 2020 Olympics. In the fall of 2022, she decided to return to the ILCA 6, and her enthusiasm for the boat reignited at the ILCA World Championships, where she placed 10th overall and earned Tier 1 status on the US Sailing Team as the top American. After graduating from Boston College in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Geosciences, Reineke transitioned to a full-time Olympic campaign in the ILCA 6.
