Baker went to Fairmount State University where he played collegiate football as a wide receiver and later pursued his dream of playing in the NFL. He went undrafted but was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as a prospect in 2011. Baker spent the next two years with the Pittsburgh Power of the Arena Football League before transitioning to rugby in 2013. He spent a year at the Tiger Rugby Academy where he learned the intricacies of the sport.
