Will Ospreay, whose full name is William Peter Charles Ospreay, is an English professional wrestler born on May 7, 1993. He is widely recognized for his contributions to the world of wrestling, particularly for his eight-year tenure with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). Ospreay has achieved numerous championships during his career, including the prestigious IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

Known for his agility, high-flying maneuvers, and athleticism, Will Ospreay initially gained attention in the United Kingdom's independent wrestling circuit in 2011. In 2016, he began working with NJPW, focusing on the junior heavyweight division. Over the years, Ospreay has become a three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and won the Best of the Super Juniors tournaments in 2016 and 2019.

In 2020, Will Ospreay made a significant transition to the heavyweight division, securing the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. He has also been a part of other wrestling promotions, including Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) and Progress Wrestling, where he held titles such as the Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion and Progress World Champion, respectively.

Beyond his accomplishments in NJPW, Ospreay has ventured into American wrestling circuits, making appearances in promotions like Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), Ring of Honor (ROH), and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG). In February 2024, Will Ospreay officially joined All Elite Wrestling (AEW) after his NJPW contract expired.

Will Ospreay Workout Routine

While Will Ospreay's journey to heavyweight involved significant weight gain, details of his specific workout routine remain elusive. Will Ospreay, a renowned professional wrestler, has transformed in recent years by transitioning from the junior heavyweight to the heavyweight division. The weight shift was initially inspired by a storyline idea pitched to PROGRESS, a promotion where Ospreay was planning to compete for the super heavyweight title, the Atlas Title. However, the storyline didn't materialize, but Ospreay continued with his decision to put on weight.

According to Ospreay, he began putting on more weight after Wrestle Kingdom 12. His initial motivation was the idea pitched to PROGRESS, where he aimed to meet the weight requirement for the super heavyweight title. Even though the storyline fell through, Ospreay continued with his weight gain experiment to see if it would benefit him in other ways. His goal was to protect his body, especially since he had been dealing with neck problems and body pain.

Ospreay's efforts didn't go unnoticed, as the bookers in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) recognized his dedication to putting on weight. This recognition led to opportunities in the Openweight Title scene and eventually a move to the heavyweight division. Ospreay successfully navigated this transition, and he is now officially competing as a heavyweight.

During this period, Ospreay faced challenges, including a broken rib in October 2018 due to excessive mass gain without adjusting his wrestling style. Over time, he found a balance, incorporating hard-hitting strikes while maintaining his speed and athleticism. Ospreay's evolution in style allowed him to adapt to the heavyweight division successfully.

Despite the changes, Ospreay emphasizes that he can still move at a similar speed in the heavyweight division. However, he made adjustments to his high-flying repertoire, omitting some of the double flips that were part of his junior heavyweight style. The transformation also involved adding a more "nitty-gritty" aspect to his strikes while maintaining the speed, kicks, and tricks characteristic of his earlier style.

Ospreay, famous for his moniker "The Aerial Assassin," is known for his high-flying wrestling style which he took from computer games. His signature move, the OsCutter, represents his sharpness. Worries over his health emerged because of his risky moves and it was made worse by a neck injury in 2018. Changing to heavyweight, he embraced an impressive and powerful style. He started to use the "Hidden Blade" and the Stormbreaker as new finishers.
