Andrew Patrick Painter is an American professional baseball pitcher. He is currently a part of the Philadelphia Phillies organization. Born April 10, 2003, in Pompano Beach, Florida, U.S., Painter attended Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He pursued his graduation from the University of Florida where he also played college baseball. Painter earned a 7-2 with a 1.43 ERA over 53 2⁄3 innings during his sophomore season in 2019. As a senior, Painter held a 6-1 record and a 0.38 ERA while striking out 93 batters over 47 innings. His performance on the pitch earned him the prestigious Florida Gatorade Player of the Year (2021) award.
Painter was picked up by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2021 Major League Baseball draft with their 13th overall pick. He made his professional debut with their rookie team, the Florida Complex League Phillies. In his first season with them, he threw six scoreless innings with 12 strikeouts. Painter played with the Clearwater Threshers of the Single-A Florida State League during the 2022 season before being promoted to the Jersey Shore BlueClaws of the High-A South Atlantic League in June later that year. He was further promoted to the Reading Fightin Phils of the Double-A Eastern League in August. His 2022 season saw him finish with a 1.56 ERA and 155 strikeouts over 103 2⁄3 innings between the three teams. Additionally, he was named the Phillies Minor League Player of the Year.
Internationally, Painter has represented the United States. He played for them at the 15U National Team in Panama during his freshman year. He won the Gold Medal and was named to the All-World team.
