Dansby Swanson was born on 11th February 1994, in Kennesaw Georgia, and is an American shortstop who currently plays in Major League Baseball for the Chicago Cubs. Previously he represented the Atlanta Braves.
Swanson played college baseball for the Vanderbilt Commodores. He was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2015 MLB draft. He was the first college shortstop to be drafted first overall in 41 years since Bill Almon in 1974. Swanson, for his spectacular performances, was named an All-Star in both 2022, and 2023. Added to that, he was the World Series Champion in 2021, and also won the prestigious Gold Glove Award in 2022.
Dansby Swanson represented the USA National Baseball team at the Haarlem Baseball Week in the Netherlands in 2014. Swanson led the team with a .458 batting average in 24 at-bats in his first six starts. Dansby Swanson also participated in the team's Cuban tour. He was also part of the US team that won the gold medal with a 6-3 victory over Japan. He batted .288 in 66 at-bats for Team USA and finished with the second highest batting average.
