George Springer is an American professional baseball outfielder who has been playing with the Toronto Blue Jays since 2021. George Springer spent his first year of high school in New Britain, Connecticut, at New Britain High School. Springer changed schools and attended Avon Old Farms School in Avon, Connecticut. Springer was a baseball player for the Avon Old Farms team. In the 48th round of the 2008 MLB Draft, the Minnesota Twins picked Springer. Ultimately, he decided not to sign with them. Springer was then selected for the 2009 Baseball America Freshman All-America First Team while playing for the University of Connecticut (UConn).
He participated in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Wareham Gatemen during the summers of 2009 and 2010. Springer was selected by the Astros in the first round (11th overall) of the 2011 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut with the Houston Astros in 2014. Since then, George Springer has been named an All-Star 4 times (2017–2019, 2022), along with the 2017 World Series champion, then the 2017 World Series MVP, and the 2-time Silver Slugger Award winner (2017, 2019).
