American third baseman for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB), Jacob Michael Burger was born on April 10, 1996.

Burger went to St. Louis, Missouri's Christian Brothers College High School. He attended Missouri State University to play collegiate baseball for the Missouri State Bears. He participated in 57 games as a freshman and hit .342/.390/.518 with four home runs and 42 runs batted in (RBIs), earning Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year honors. In 56 games as a sophomore in 2016, Burger batted .349/.420/.689 with 21 home runs and 72 RBIs. He played for the American collegiate national team after the season. He had a.328 batting average with 22 home runs and 65 RBIs as a junior in 2017 and was recognized as the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year.

Burger replaced an injured Yoán Moncada at third base on the White Sox Opening Day roster in 2022. Prior to being demoted back to Triple-A on May 9 when Moncada was activated, Burger played in 21 games with a .239 average, two home runs, and seven RBIs.
