Jesse attended the Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida. He committed to play for the Florida Gators while attending classes at the University of Florida. However, he opted out of the university and later was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2012 MLB draft. He was the 49th overall choice in the first round of the selection.

He began his Minor Leagues career with the Reds in 2012 and was promoted to the Major Leagues in 2017. The outfielder has also played for teams such as the Seattle Mariners in 2022. Currently, he is playing for the Milwaukee Brewers and has been an All-Star in 2021.
