Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, United States, Michael Timothy Shildt’s baseball career as a player was limited only to varsity baseball at Olympic High School and then college baseball at University of North Carolina at Asheville. He then started his coaching and managing career, spending the early part of his career with the minor league teams. Notably, he became a major league coach only in 2017. This came as a result of the St. Louis Cardinals hiring him to serve as the quality control coach of the Cardinals.
