The Milwaukee Brewers have an eight year old connection with their former coach turned present manager Patrick Thomas Murphy. Having gained experience in baseball during college and later in the minor leagues for the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants, he resorted to use the same experience as a coach. He started with being college baseball coach for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Arizona State Sun Devils, post which he shifted gears and became a professional coach. He started by coaching several minor league teams and then transitioned to being the interim manager of the San Diego Padres in 2015. Notably, he joined his protege Craig Counsell’s Milwaukee Brewers as the bench coach in 2016 and held that position until the 2023 season.
