Craig John Counsell, popularly known as “The Chicken” is the new manager for the Chicago Cubs in Major League Baseball (MLB). He is also a former baseball player and former manager for the Milwaukee Brewers. As a player, Counsell started his MLB career with the Colorado Rockies and has also played for the Florida Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks and the Milwaukee Brewers. Throughout his playing career, he won the World Series title twice in 1997 and 2001 while he was also the NLCS MVP in 2001.

Originally from South Bend, Indiana, United States, Counsell scored 42 home runs and 390 RBIs throughout his career as a player. After his retirement, he served in the front office position for the Milwaukee Brewers as well as acted as a special assistant to general manager Doug Melvin. He also worked as a part time color analyst for the team’s radio broadcasts.

Counsell managed the Milwaukee Brewers from 2015-2023. Under his leadership, the team became NL Central Division champions in 2018, 2021 and 2023. His tenure with the team ended in 2023. As a manager, he has achieved a win-loss record of 707-625 with a win-loss% of 53.1%.
