Nestor Cortes Jr. is a Cuban-American professional baseball pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers in Major League Baseball (MLB). He has also had spells with the Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles, and the New York Yankees. The Yankees initially chose Cortes in the 36th round of the 2013 MLB Draft. However, he never played for the Yankees during his first stint with the New York City-based team. After spending several seasons in the minor league, the Orioles selected him in the Rule 5 draft in 2017.
On March 31, 2018, Cortes made his MLB debut for the Baltimore Orioles. The following season, he returned to the Yankees for a second stint. However, he was traded to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for an international pool bonus of $28,300. Cortes returned to the Yankees for his third stint in 2021. Cortes was chosen to play in his first MLB All-Star game in 2022 and reached the World Series Championship with them in 2024. He was traded to the Brewers in exchange for Devin Williams in December 2024.
