EMP Grenades in Modern Warfare 3 Season 5 are new Tactical Equipment. They deploy an electromagnetic pulse that will disable all enemy electronic equipment in the vicinity. Furthermore, when they are used, they will also disrupt enemy sensors, messing with their HUDs. As a result, they won't be able to look at their map or other HUD elements, including the gun's lasers and digital optical sights.

EMP Grenades in Modern Warfare 3 can be used to gain a strategic advantage over your opponents. You can use it just like regular Tactical Equipment such as Flash Grenade or Stun Grenade by equipping it to your Tactical slot from the Loadout menu.

When thrown, it will create a large electromagnetic pulse spike in a preset radius. Inside this zone, all enemy electronic equipment will fail to work for a brief moment. You can use it to stop the Wheelson, the Recon Drones, the Sentry Gun, and any other equipment that enemies might be using by simply throwing an EMP Grenade near it.

If there is no equipment, it will affect the enemy players in the radius and their HUD will be scrambled, which will take away valuable information. Essentially, they will be playing a match of Hardcore for a brief moment with no HUD and intel to go on.

Simply put, EMP Grenades in Modern Warfare 3 are similar to the EMP Killstreak. However, instead of impacting the entire map, it will only affect a small area where the grenade is thrown.

EMP Grenades in Modern Warfare 3 can be unlocked via Armory Unlocks, meaning that players must win matches or complete daily challenges in-game to unlock them once Season 5 goes live.

This isn't the first time EMP Grenades are being introduced to a Call of Duty game. They were first introduced to the series with the original Modern Warfare 3 (2011) and were even available in the original Warzone (2020). With its retun, fans are certainly elated as it will now pave new ways for players to tackle objectives or just shut down enemy equipment.
