Antwaun Powell-Ryland Jr. is a defensive end and played the 2024 season as a Redshirt Senior for the Virginia Tech Hokies. He hails from Portsmouth, Virginia, and attended Norcom High School. Powell-Ryland began his college football career at Florida in 2020, playing in two games as a redshirt freshman. In 2023, he moved to Virginia Tech, where he played in 12 of 13 games with 40 total tackles, 9.5 sacks, and 14.5 tackles for loss. He forced and recovered one fumble and registered several quarterback pressures. Powell-Ryland played in all 12 games in 2024 and recorded 43 tackles, 16 sacks, and 19 tackles for loss. He also made two four-sack games, both against Old Dominion and Boston College, including three fumbles forced and three recovered. He was a semifinalist for national awards such as the Lombardi Trophy, the Bednarik Award, and the Walter Camp Player of the Year. Antwaun also received All-American recognition and All-ACC first team selections. Powell-Ryland was the first Virginia Tech player since 2005 to have double-digit sacks in a single season and the Dudley Award recipient.

Antwaun Powell-Ryland Jr. played for Indian River High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, under head coach Marcus Ferebee. While playing for the Braves, he contributed to the team's 12-1 season record in 2018. As a four-star recruit, Powell-Ryland was invited to participate in the Under Armour All-America Game. He committed to begin his college career at Florida over offers from some of the top programs, such as TCU, Nebraska, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Miami, Tennessee, and many more.
