Caleb Downs plays as a safety for the Ohio State Buckeyes and embarked on his collegiate football journey with the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2023. He is from Hoschton, Georgia, and attended Mill Creek High School. Downs was chosen as the All-American Bowl Player of the Year as a senior. In college, Downs intends to major in business. At Mill Creek, Downs plays varsity basketball as well. Downs is from one of the nation's sportiest families. Downs was considered one of the best players in the 2023 college football recruiting class and the nation's top safety prospect. He was ranked ninth, eleventh, and eighth nationally by Rivals.com, ESPN, and 247Sports, respectively. Downs chose Alabama over Ohio State, Clemson, Georgia, and Notre Dame. In July 2023, he was named the Defensive Football Player of the Year by USA Today. Caleb Downs led the club in tackles on his debut with eight. He amassed an amazing 95 tackles during the season, which included 35 assists and 60 solo tackles. He also made three interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
