#3 Nathan Lyon

Much like Philander, Nathan Lyon has gone unsold in the IPL auction 5 times. The off-spinner, who despite being a regular in the Big Bash League, has played only 2 T20Is for Australia and hence has never managed to find a buyer.

Lyon is Australia's third-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket, behind only Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath. In 96 Tests, the 32-year-old has picked up 390 wickets with his best match figures being 13/154.

Known for his overspin and revs imparted on the ball, he is undoubtedly one of the greatest spinners the game has ever seen. Lyon, who played the 2019 ODI World Cup for Australia, might just have to be resigned to the longest format of the game in the future.

#2 Stuart Broad

Stuart Broad was bought by the Kings XI Punjab in the 2011 IPL auction, but didn't manage to play a single game owing to injury. He is the only player on this list to have found a buyer in the IPL.

With 514 wickets in 143 Tests, Broad is one the greatest fast bowlers of all time. Absolutely unplayable when on song and handy with the bat, the 34-year-old showed in the recently concluded Test series against West Indies and Pakistan that he has a lot left in the tank.

However, Broad isn't part of the England limited-overs setups anymore, and his white-ball career might just be remembered for the six sixes that he conceded in an over while bowling to Yuvraj Singh in the 2007 T20 World Cup.

#1 Jimmy Anderson

Jimmy Anderson recently became the first fast bowler in the history of cricket to pick up 600 wickets in the Test format, and is behind only Warne, Muralitharan and Kumble on the leading Test wicket-takers list.

However, the Lancashire man has never played in the IPL. In fact, he's played only 19 T20Is for England, and opted to prolong his Test career by restricting himself to the format. Anderson even claimed that there's no reason why he can't scale Mount 700 in Test cricket, but that seems like a tall task even for him.

With injuries plaguing the 38-year-old in recent years, it's all but certain that much like Broad, we'll never witness him in coloured clothing again.
